Hunt Alberta, Alberta Big Game Outfitters
Dear Sportsman:
We proudly offer you some of the best hunting opportunities in Alberta! The province has a black bear population of 60,000 to 80,000. We hunt bear in Wildlife Management Unit 540 southeast of Fort Vermillion, located about 700 kms north of Edmonton and bordering Wood Buffalo National Park in the west. The area is difficult to access and therefore abundant with game and wildlife. Because of the remoteness, Sunday hunting is permitted (Map). The numerous black bears in this region range in colour from black to chocolate brown and honey blond. Barrels in the hunting area, baited with several thousand pounds of pork, beaver, oats and bacon grease, help us achieve a kill rate of 150%. Hunting with us will ensure that you will see bears. You will be hunting from a tree stand next to a baited barrel from 3:00 PM until dark. The success rate for a trophy bear is excellent. We will skin the bear for you and salt it properly. We can take your hide to a taxidermist in Edmonton or you may take your trophy along with you when you leave. Cites papers for the export of your trophy will be prepared for you. The same wilderness area is also home to many moose which are hunted during their rut. We hunt most by stalking, calling, by all-terrain vehicles or from the Peace River by boat. Moose trophies from our hunting district reach an average spread of 45 to 55 inches. We are proud to achieve a kill rate of 50%. We will cap the head for you and salt it properly. You will have to supply your own containers in order to take your trophy and your meat home. You might also encounter wolf or coyote during your hunting trip with us (please refer to price list for details). Our camp features a power plant, hot showers, outhouse and a large kitchen tent. Your sleeping quarters are 12 X 14 tents for double occupancy. Foam mattresses for the wooden beds will be supplied. You can bring your own sleeping bag or rent one for $20. The best way to get to our camp is to drive to Red Earth. We will pick you up in the morning and drive you to the the camp which is about 2 hours away.
